I enjoy and welcome this debate: are bloggers journalists? Can you be both? Should there be a distinction? If so, what can we learn from each other?
From the beginning, traditional reporters and journalists have been attracted to the FinCon community. And it wasn’t long before I decided to change the direction of our annual event from serving “bloggers” to serving a more general media audience to include podcasters, authors, financial professionals, and yes, journalists.
The journalism and blogging worlds are being slammed together and my hope is that FinCon can be a place where we discuss this convergence and how as a community we can use it to our advantage.
In this video, blogger and journalist Paula Pant, creator of AffordAnything.com, talks about the history of journalism and how it has evolved in the digital age.
She also contrasts journalism with blogging and how the lines are blurring between the two. Paula uses two stories to illustrate her points, concluding with an award-winning example of new media journalism. Enjoy…
