How Online Personal Finance Communities Lead to Better Banking for Everyone
In 2010, Ally Bank launched the Straight Talk blog, as well as our Facebook page and Twitter feed. We built these communities to bring better banking to our customers by using the Web to talk straight about the financial issues that are important to them.
Fast-forward two years. We’re happy to see that customers, personal finance bloggers and independent experts are all responding favorably to how we use social media to talk to our audience. We’re also honored to have been recognized with a Forrester Groundswell Award for online consumer engagement, and to have been named one of the most trustworthy retail banks out there. But one of the things we’re proudest of is the online communities our audiences have built, and the nuanced conversations they continue to have. We love seeing our fans trade personal stories, share financial insights and answer other customers’ questions before we even have a chance to respond.
We’re thrilled to be part of FinCon2012. We believe personal finance bloggers and the communities they represent are vital resources for helping consumers make well-informed financial decisions. Plus, consumers aren’t the only ones who can benefit. These communities also let banks know how they can be better and do more for their customers.
While attending FinCon11, we were struck by the intelligent and informed dialogue on personal finance and fiscal responsibility, as evidenced by the questions and ideas coming from the financial blogger community in attendance. This year, we’re excited to see the advancements that have been made, and to see some familiar and new faces.
We’re also hosting the Ally Blogger Quest, a scavenger hunt that will give conference attendees the opportunity to meet and compete for a $250 gift card and a chance to be featured on Ally’s Straight Talk blog. The hunt will run on Saturday, from 12pm MT – 6pm MT. For details, follow @AllyBank or #AllyBloggerQuest on Twitter for updates on how to participate.
We look forward to seeing you all at the conference!
