Ignite FinCon is Back for 2013!
This is a guest post from Eric Rosenberg of Narrow Bridge Finance. He’s organizing Ignite FinCon. Here’s Eric…
Ignite FinCon is Back!
Hello FinCon friends. I am excited to be bringing back #IgniteFinCon for a second year! This fall in St. Louis, we will join up on Friday night at 9:00pm for what is sure to be a highlight of the 2013 Financial Blogger Conference.
WTF is Ignite?
For the uninitiated, Ignite is a fun gathering of like-minded people where a democratically selected group of speakers get on stage for 5 minute talks on topics designed to entertain, educate, or excite you. Each talk is called a “spark” as it is supposed to “ignite” thought and conversation around a single idea.
But it is not so simple for the speakers…
Each 5 minute conversion requires exactly 20 slides timed at 15 seconds a piece. Think of it as TED talks on speed.
You can see examples and learn more here: What is Ignite.
How Do I Get Involved?
Want to present at #IgniteFinCon? Awesome! We will likely get far more submissions than speaker slots, so think long and hard about an amazing topic to wow the crowd.
I suggest watching lots of Ignite videos from around the world and all of our videos from last year, which are being posted regularly leading up to submission opening, on the Ignite FinCon blog.
Once you come up with a topic, you will submit it via the submission page (not yet accepting submissions). When the submission are posted, make sure to vote for your favorite topic. Everyone is welcome to vote once on each topic. Cheaters will be disqualified. We encourage all FinCon attendees to vote, and you can get votes from non-attendees, but only one vote per person and you have to vote on each topic to be counted.
You can learn more about the process from idea to speaking at the “How to Ignite” page.
