What You Can Expect from Blog Mentoring at #FinCon14
If you’ve registered for #FinCon14 you received several bonuses, and one of those was the chance to participate in Blog Mentoring: a live, one-on-one session with a mentor who can help you answer your most burning questions.
I love blog mentoring at FinCon because it helps to ensure my attendees don’t leave without getting some personal instruction and help on their journey.
This week I sat down with Jana Lynch, the founder of the Blog Mentoring Network, to discuss plans for the Blog Mentoring session at #FinCon14.
We decided to record our conversation over Google Hangout and share it with you below.
We were joined on the call by Ruth Soukup, founder of Elite Blog Academy. Ruth was generous enough to make Elite Blog Academy the official partner of this year’s mentoring session.
You’ll hear more about her awesome Academy in the video and live at the session.
If you don’t have time to watch the full video hangout, here’s the info you need:
- Approximately 2-3 weeks prior to #FinCon14, you will receive an email with your partner’s name as well as a number. This number will be your match number and will help you find seating as well as your partner during the session. A list will also be posted outside the conference room door.
- If you’re not sure if you signed up for Blog Mentoring when you registered for #FinCon14, simply revisit your order at Eventbrite.com and make your selection. Do so by August 21st, the deadline.
- If you are no longer interested in Blog Mentoring, please update your order at Eventbrite.com and indicate that you do not want to participate. Please do so by August 21st, the deadline.
- Alternatively, you can email Jana before August 21st at email@example.com to make changes.
Even More Information About Blog Mentoring
What can people expect from Blog Mentoring at #FinCon14?
You can expect to be paired with a mentor/mentee prior to the conference. You can expect to participate in an hour and a half session on Saturday, the 20th, where you talk one-on-one with your partner.
Who should participate? And how will you decide to match mentor/mentee?
Everyone with a blog should participate. All #FinCon14 speakers are required to participate as a mentor. Matches will be made based on answers to questions asked in your Eventbrite.com registration. Revisit your order there to see what you chose.
How can you prepare to make the most of the session?
If you’re a mentee, bring your questions. If you’re a mentor, maybe take some time to preview your mentee’s blog.
What can people expect to get from the session?
The session will have a very loose structure. And it’s pretty easy. If you’re a mentee, simply sit next to your mentor and start asking questions. If you’re a mentor, do your best to answer questions or make a plan to follow up or make a connection for your mentee.
